Free Software, Free Society

Second International Conference on Freedom in Computing, Development and Culture starts on 9th December 2008 at Mascot Convention Center, Thiruvananthapuram.

Many celebrities of Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) and Open Access (OA) movements will make their presence in this conference. To name a few of them are Richard Matthew Stallman, Jimmy Wales, Eben Moglen, Subbiah Arunachalam and Adam Arvidsson. The Conference will have three tracks - Technology, Culture and Policy. Some of the highlights of the event are Install Fest and Repository, Copy Left - Open Access, Open Movie Fest, Malayalam Computing, Scientific Computing, General Word Processing Applications, Games and Educational Software, Open Hardware and Computing for Disabled.

As part of the Conference, an exhibition for students and public on free software philosophy and projects will be conducted during 9-11, December 2008, at Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds, Thiruvananthapuram.

Organizers of the event are Kerala State IT Mission and SPACE, the Society for Promotion of Alternative Computing and Employment.
